My Story

I started The Guarded Heart blog as a ministry to people who are in a season of life where drawing close to God has become first priority. In this season, literally everything else is secondary. As we grow closer to God, closer to His beauty, majesty and grace, and truly see Him as King, we begin to realize how different He is from everything else in our lives.

"Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth I desire besides You." -- Psalm 73:25 ESV

That is a powerful statement and I can honestly say that it hasn't been true for me my whole life. I accepted Christ as my Savior and was baptized as a child, but there were plenty of things that I desired besides God. I wanted God AND lots of other things, and so often, as happens for most of us, those things that we can see and touch and feel and understand became more important than a God I could not see or touch or feel or understand.

Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen me but still have believed."
